This engaging Collaborative Care symposium will offer panel discussions and nine hands-on workshops facilitated by professionals and cancer survivors across Montana currently practicing a successful Integrative Medicine approach to wellness and healing. Practitioners will share their insights, strategies, methodologies and resources on a variety of complementary medicine modalities.
The day will begin with a ‘Rise & Shine’ session of restorative Yoga at 8:00 am. The Symposium begins at 9:00am with a panel of four practitioners and physicians sharing their insights on: “This is Integrative Medicine: Its Many Faces.” Thereafter, nine workshops will be offered following the three tracts of Mind, Body, Spirit. Topics include Nutrition, BodyTalk, Supplements, Positive Imagery, Art & Music Therapy, Journaling, Acupuncture, Oncology Massage, and more.
Also offered will be a presentation on how to become your own patient advocate; learn what to look for, questions to ask, and how to talk to your primary care oncologist and other providers about incorporating complementary medicine techniques into your healthcare plan.
The featured Keynote Speaker is Dr. Judy Schmidt of Guardian Oncology and Center for Wellness, board certified in oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. Dr. Schmidt’s philosophy and practice offer a wonderful working-model for an integrative medicine approach to healthcare.
This symposium is FREE with priority given to Montana families or individuals within one year of cancer treatment. Registration is required, and space is limited. A waiting list is expected. Lunch is provided and childcare for potty-trained and older children is available for a fee (limited enrollment). Call Cancer Family Network 406-587-8080, or to ensure your spot!
